Food/Fitness 1 year ago 5 Unusual Resolutions I'm Making This Year
Last year I kind of boycotted the idea of making personal resolutions. I mean, I made a list but let’s be honest … I didn’t really stick to it. This year I’m trying to think more outside of the box and create resolutions that I really want to do and will improve my overall quality of life. This week I partnered up with my favorite work out line, , and took my butt to the beach in effort to get a jump start on my resolutions this year. is all about doing things to get your body moving which is something I 100% stand behind. Sometimes we set the goal to work out X amount of times per week. Why not cut yourself some slack this year and set the goal of simply “moving” instead of “working” out? I can tell you one thing, it was easier to wake up early when I didn’t set the expectation that I had to run or do some crazy work out.
It also got me to thinking about a few more unusual resolutions I’m making this year.
What’s on your list?
1. Get Up Early Once A Week
By “early” I mean extra early. I always talk about the idea of driving to the beach every morning for a walk/run, but somehow it never ends up panning out. I really think that if I commit to going once per week that it would balance out my mind, body and soul. There is something so calming and rejuvenating about the beach and it’s such a shame that I live so close, yet hardly ever go. Yesterday morning Grant and I woke up extra early and tossed on our gear and it really was worth the extra effort. We actually ended up doing a little bit more than just hanging at the beach. Thankfully the is an outfit that’s great for any type of activity whether you’re breaking a sweat or not!
2. Remind Yourself
On the first day of each month set a calendar reminder to sit down and make a list of everything you are grateful for. I love doing check ins throughout the year and having a documentation of what is really happening in your life will be a nice keepsake to look back on.
3. No Screen Sunday
It doesn’t necessarily have to be on Sunday, but once a week we have a TV free day/night in the house. I like the idea of doing it on Sunday because it allows your mind to truly rest and hit re-set for the work week ahead.
4. Learn Something You Didn’t Learn as a Child
Confession: I do not know all of the states. I know. My goal this year is to learn something useful that I should know as an adult but don’t.
5. Make the Usual Unusual
It is so easy to get lost in a rut when you do the same things every day. Next year, commit to doing small things differently each week. Wear something you might not necessarily wear. For me, I usually avoid crop top styles in work out gear. However when Grant and I went to the beach the other morning I was quite surprised as to how great I felt wearing this style. When you work out, it’s important to be very in tune with your body. I usually keep my body covered up so it’s easy to let things kind of “hang out.” When I wore my I paid very close attention to keeping my abs sucked in which offered a better work out. You can also switch up your usual routine by ordering a different coffee, taking a new route to work or treating yourself to something spontaneous and special on a random Monday night, such as an expensive bottle of red wine or steak dinner.
